STORY BEHIND THIS SON... I'm from Minnesota, and, in case you haven't heard, it gets COOOLD up here in December. That got me thinking... I wonder if there were a few spiritually-hungry men and women who were standing outside in the cold night air, looking up at that strange new star, somehow intuitively knowing that everything was changing that night. They perhaps were not in Bethlehem with the shepherds to hear with their own ears the angel choirs singing. But did they somehow hear it in their hearts and go to bed knowing that everything was going to be alright? This was no ordinary night. This was the pivotal night of all human history. God had entered the world as a tiny infant, born of a Virgin. So many people today have a "What's the big deal" kind of attitude about Christmas. They don't see what difference it makes. Little do they know that if they would just open their hearts, EVERYTHING is made new, fresh, and alive by the birth of this Holy Child. It's just that Satan has been effective at blinding them to all that Christ offers. Lord, deliver souls this Advent Season from the grip of the evil one who has darkened the hearts of the unbelieving. Help those who follow you to shine like that star, pointing the world to Your Divine Son who is our light and our salvation.
